This October some 7 million fish made the 400 kilometer journey up stream from the Pacific to spawn in the Adams – the largest return in nearly 100 years. Described as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ event, scientists are baffled by the unprecedented bounty given steadily diminishing returns and historic closures of a once bountiful salmon fishery. Will the epic run of 2010 be remembered as a turning point for a species thought to be on the brink?
